For as long as he can remember, Ralph Byer has strived to give back to his community, whether by donating his time and energy or, as he grew older and more independent, through making financial contributions. Over the years, he has come across many an organization that possesses a mission he supports. However, the most notable of them all, as well as the causes they support, can be found below.
The Darrell Gwynn Foundation. Founded in April of 1990, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation seeks to support paralyzed individuals by hosting a wheelchair donation program. The organization also strives to prevent detrimental spinal cord injuries from happening in the first place. As such, they provide an extensive Education & Prevention program meant to raise awareness of reckless and potentially dangerous behaviors, as well as situations to avoid.
Jewish Adoption and Foster Care Options (JAFCO). This organization is especially close to Ralph Byer’s heart, as JAFCO’s mission is to provide care and solace for abused and neglected children, as well as disabled members of the Jewish community. JAFCO and Ralph each believe that children are to be cherished in a community, as they are the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and caretakers.
The Sherriff’s Foundation of Broward County. Last but not least, this foundation aims to strengthen the security of Ralph’s community by funding anti-terrorism initiatives. Furthermore, the Sherriff’s Foundation provides funding and long-term support to the families of fallen deputies.
